SMB failure after upgrade
#1
I've seen a few posts about this but no resolution.

I upgraded from 14 to 17.1. Now kodi cannot see the SMB shares I have on the network. The computer does fine (from the O/S).

\\mediacenter\myvids exists and I can browse it fine

smb://mediacenter/myvids does not work inside kodi.

Any ideas? This was all fine before I upgraded.

I suspect that in that jump from 14 to 17 you might have lost the login in the path SMB/Windows (wiki) the wiki step by step.

The circle spins a while then it comes up blank. Not showing the shares at all. There isn't any login as I am doing this as "guest". Guest has access to the shares with full control. I'll read through these though just in case.

Thanks

Adding it by hand seems to work but when I tell the system that the share contains TV Shows, it does not save this setting. It prompts to update the library (I say yes) and nothing shows up. When I re-edit it, the source type is still NONE. Ideas?

Is "smb://mediacenter/myvids" a Windows server, or something else?

If it is, try this: http://kodi.wiki/view/SMB/Windows#Timeout

Its sometimes better mapping all you SMB shares within windows out of kodi i find this the least messy way.

I don't know what this means. I upgraded the machine to windows 10 now hoping that would clear it up. No difference. Kodi simply doesn't see any SMB shares. Any other advice?
