v17 Failing to scan media on start-up and then hangs
#1
I have recently upgraded to Ubuntu 16.04.2LTS. I previously ran XBMC on a previous version without any problems.
I did try installing Kodi using the built-in software installer in Ubuntu, this wanted to install version 16. The install seemed to go fine but upon opening for the first time, it scanned from files for ages and then just stopped. I assumed that it was the version that i had installed.

I then went to the Kodi Wiki page and installed from a terminal command. This installed Kodi 17.1. I still have the same problem. Upon opening, Kodi scans my media "Loading Media Information From Files" and says that it's adding information from files and then hangs after about 15 minutes. When I go to System/events, it says that it has "failed to scan album (album name)" for ALL of my music.

I am using an Acer Aspire Revo 3600 with an Intel 1.6HGz processor. GPU 230 @ 1.60GHz
Nvidia Graphics: 3.3.0 NVIDIA 304.135
Kodi Build: Kodi 17.1 Git: 20170320-nogitfound (is this correct?)
Skin: Confluence, I have tried with other skins, same issue.
Complied: Nov 4 2012

Here's a link to the debug log.

None of the official kodi versions I know of does automatically scan for media. For scanning media Kodi needs a source to be set up. That has to be done manually.

Seeing this repo being installed:

19:58:03.596 T:140137598511488 NOTICE: ADDONS: Using repository repository.googlecode.anarchintosh-projects

lets me assume we aren't talking about a fresh installation. As this repo isn't shipped by default

So I would say, as mentioned in the other post, starting from scratch would be a nice idea. So remove the .kodi folder as I mentioned and start from the beginning. Don't add any repo at first glance to see if Kodi works fine with your local data.
