Can't figure out why episode won't scrape.

Already posted on OSMC forum and was referred here. (original thread: https://discourse.osmc.tv/t/cant-figure-...ue/36346/2)

Debug Log here: http://paste.osmc.io/arahamuyar

My issue is a TV Show, and not an obscure one either. I just added 4 episodes to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. This show was already in my database and has scraped fine before so long as I add episode numbers to the filenames. Like most kid show series, I get the episodes from DVDs my kids get as gifts that contain a handful of randomly selected episodes. So I rip the disc, then rename the files to be "episode title 1x01.mkv" For example one of the problem files is "TV Shows\Mickey Mouse Clubhouse\Mickey's Big Band Concert 2x6.mkv" This lines up perfectly with what's in theTVDB.com. But it's refusing to be added.
I'm reading thru the log and it appears to recognize the show properly, and even extracts the season and episode numbers from the file. It does appear to be adding a 12/31/1969 air date (null?) and a blank title. I can see the block of log entries that shows the entire episode list for the correct show from thetvdb. I even see the troublesome episodes in that list result from the scraper.

I've also tried putting in a specific nfo for the episode that contains the specific url to that episode page on thetvdb, but it still doesn't get added.

Why isn't it picking these up?

You have it named like this...

TV Shows\Mickey Mouse Clubhouse\Mickey's Big Band Concert 2x6.mkv

Can you try...
TV Shows\Mickey Mouse Clubhouse\Mickey Mouse Clubhouse 2x6.mkv
or
TV Shows\Mickey Mouse Clubhouse\Mickey Mouse Clubhouse 2x6 Mickey's Big Band Concert .mkv

Can you explain this comment? How is it relevant? Is it not compatible?

Just tried both of those naming conventions and rescanned each time, neither worked.

Also worth noting is that there's another 20 episodes in this folder, the other 20 are all named in the "episodename 1x01.mkv" format They have all scraped fine previously, though it was probably before the current major kodi version.

It means that you have banned add-ons installed on your system. According to the Forum Rules, we are unable to provide assistance until they are removed. I never noticed as I didn't check your log as I thought it was a simple naming fix.

See here... http://kodi.wiki/view/Banned_Add-ons

I mean no disrespect, but I do not see popcornmix on the banned repo list. I don't even think I installed it. Maybe it is installed as part of the OSMC build? The original post from 0808? seems to now be missing, so maybe he realized that as well.

This is probably a different topic, but is there a way to tell what I'm going to lose or break by removing that repo? The last thing I want to do is create new problems before even trying to systematically solve the first one.

Yes, you are correct. It is missing. I did not think that was possible. There was certainly nothing questionable about his post. It is not in the Garbage Bin. Maybe a Moderator can explain...

Quote:but I do not see popcornmix on the banned repo list
It is not a comprehensive list, but I can't find any offending material hosted by popcornmix. So I will help until a Moderator tells me to stop.

Quote: tell what I'm going to lose or break by removing that repo
No, nothing breaks when removing a Repo. All that happens is you lose access to those Add-ons that were in the Repo.

This is what I am seeing in your Log...

21:46:17.330 T:1533015024 DEBUG: VideoInfoScanner: Found episode match smb://SERVER8/TV Shows/Mickey Mouse Clubhouse/Mickey's Big Band Concert 2x6.mkv (s2e6) [[\\/\._ \[\(-]([0-9]+)x([0-9]+(?:(?:[a-i]|\.[1-9])(?![0-9]))?)([^\\/]*)$]

and

23:04:50.498 T:1524626416 DEBUG: VideoInfoScanner: No NFO file found. Using title search for 'smb://SERVER8/TV Shows/Mickey Mouse Clubhouse/Mickey's Big Band Concert 2x6.mkv'

This means Kodi is recognising the episode and is scraping for it. But I cannot figure out why it is not showing in your library. Do you use nfo files for your other episodes?

I created some dummy files and scraped on my system. That episode scraped into my library ok.

Hopefully others might see why.

Ok, just read your post at OSMC, so I haven't really told you anything new. Sorry.

FYI this is how I named my file and it scraped ok...

g:\TV Shows\Mickey Mouse Clubhouse\Mickey Mouse Clubhouse S02E06.mkv

ironically, when I was searching for scraping issues, popcornmix himself came up several times as being instrumental in adding regex matching for scraping. They were old posts, but he was listed as a kodi team member. Anyhow. Off that topic...

I was just thinking that since I never explicitly added it myself, it was likely installed as part of the OSMC build, or by some other plugin that needed something it provides. And if that's the case, some other feature likely depends on it and I don't know which feature/functions they are.

To add to the data points. I have two instances exhibiting the same behavior. Two separate rPis running OSMC (same version). It won't scrape from either.

I don't use nfo files for the other videos in this folder. This is the file listing as it currently stands.

The dummy files are there just to make the folder modify time change so I can try scraping again. modifying the filename of a video file doesn't seem to update the folder modified timestamp. The "Minnie's Bow Toons" files have never scraped, and i'm fine with that. They're just cartoon shorts that come on the DVDs but aren't part of the episode listing. The TVShow.nfo file was just added yesterday when I was trying to fix this scraping issue.

I'll try your alternate naming verbatim later this evening when the kids are done with the TV.

That I can definitely help you with... You can't mix TV Show episodes in the one directory. Each TV show needs their own TV Show directory.

If you move all your Minnie cartoons to a Directory named v:\TV Shows\Minnie's Bow Toons\ then they will scrape.

Also I am not sure what you were trying to achieve with that tvshow.nfo file, but it wouldn't work for just that single episode. You need the tvshow.nfo for the overall series, then each episode will need it's own specific nfo file.

I tried as suggested naming it
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse S02E06.mkv
Still didn't add to the library.

I also tried
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse S02E06 Mickey's Big Band Concert.mkv which also didn't work.

popcornmix's repository adds screen savers to OSMC. They're not pirate addons. I have included them by default as they are popular.

Ok, clutching at straws here...

-Delete the nfo file
-Delete the entire show from the library via Kodi (not the files) via context menu>Manage>Delete
-Re-scrape.

And maybe use the new naming format... just so Kodi sees it differently.

Well that was helpful. Thanks! I never realized those clips were another whole show series. I always just thought they were shorts used in MMCH. They're now moved. I've gone thru and figured out the episode numbers for most of them (but there's a handful I can't figure out by name) But at the moment now it appears that thetvdb is down. I'm getting bad gateway errors when I go to their site! guess i'll need to pick up on it later.

The TVShow.nfo file was an experiment to try to get this stuff to work. It didn't even exist there till I started having this problem. I tried adding the file with various contents in an attempt to fix this scraping issue. It can easily go away since it doesn't appear to be helping.
