Hello everyone.
Don't blame me i really carefully tried to search something before posting this question, but didn't found
Just post here link to similar topic if this has been discussed here before, because i don't believe nobody faced this.

I have a big music library with a lot of albums which are compilations with Various Artists as a album artist.
So when I go into "Artists" and then into "Various Artists" i see tens and tens of albums and library navigation is terribly inconvenient.

Is there any way to organize albums by series?

MusicBrainz have excellent feature: series
I have those album series:

...and i made my custom series as well like:

• Albums from particular music recording label (i.e. Ninja Tune)
  
• Albums grouped by certain mood (Meditation, Chilling, Dance)
  

On HDD all albums organized under folders.
Is there way to organize albums into series in Kodi's library?

Yep you can use a path rule node that searches for something like "Now That's what I call music". I've done this for my more popular series.

It works well, but it would be nice if Kodi did it automatically somehow.

Looks like what i need.
But as far as i know this will not work with Kodi's remotes like https://yatse.tv/redmine/projects/yatse.
Do you know is there way to view custom nodes via YATSE ?

Sorry I don't use YATSE, so don't know about that.

It works in Kodi perfectly well.

I don't think any of the remote apps (or Chorus web interface) can handle custom nodes, the JSON API does not provide the means for them to do so. But I think Yatse can access smart playlists, which can be made using similar rules.

Or on the appropriate forums you could request that Kore, Yatse, Chorus etc. (that all sync with Kodi data but hold it locally in their own db) provide album/song filtering based on path rules.

The Musicbrianz API seems to offer the MBID's for example https://musicbrainz.org/ws/2/series/4b5f...nc=aliases

So what would make sense to me is for this be included as part of the album scraper, and since the the scrapers are being updated to python now might a good opportunity to define what we want from the new scrapers. Doesn't appear to be any series artwork on Musicbrainz however so somewhere else like theaudiodb would perhaps also need to support scraping series info.

I'll add it to the todo list. Having a MBID for series is pretty awesome! So should be easy to expand the API to cover that and artwork, description etc.

As far as myself and Dave can tell Picard doesn't make use of these MBID's for entry into tags, hence why grabbing this info may better be done at the scraping stage, so would probably need to work in a manner not too dis-similar to movie sets where scraping the themoviedb is used to generate the sets.
