Solved TVDB is not working properly for me!
#1
I have a problem in Kodi (last version): it does not bring me the description for TV episodes when TMDb is set up with its preferred language as Romanian.

It download descriptions of episodes only for the first 1-5, the rest are without description.

If I set my preferred language to be English, then everything is ok and I get the description of ALL the episodes.
I mention that I want to use TMDb for TV serials instead of TVDB for descriptions in Romanian.

I tried to reinstall Kodi, update supliments,remove-add again tv show, nothing works, the problem remains unresolved.

Can you help me, please?

Before asking you for logs, maybe just a quick check.

Provide the details of one or two TV Shows where this happens. Also provide the link to the TV Show in TMDB

Firefly ( https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/1437-firefly ), Lost ( https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/4607-lost ), Falling Skies ( https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/34967-falling-skies ) just a few of examples... but the problem seems to general, the same problem is with every TV Show from my collection: TMDb only download descriptions for first(s) episode(s) like 1-5, the rest with, like 5-20 with NO descriptions (for romanian language).

LE. The only Tv Show that is OK (all episodes from all seasons have descriptions) is Stagate Atlantis ( https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/2290-stargate-atlantis ) I don`t understand if the problem is from Kodi or TMDb.

I just had a quick look at Firefly and Lost. All the episode data is listed for the Romanian Language. I was hoping for a nice, easy solution, but no such luck.

Can you provide a debug log. Instructions are here... http://kodi.wiki/view/Log_file/Easy

Follow these additional instructions...

1. Remove/Delete Firefly from the Library. (not the files, just the library entry)
2. Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Debugging
3. Restart Kodi
4. Update library so that Kodi re-scrapes Firefly
5. Once done, upload the Kodi.log to pastebin as instructed.

I just had a quick look. Am I correct in saying that no episodes of Firefly scraped?

The scrape keeps returning the following...

12:05:08.169 T:8396 ERROR: CCurlFile::Open failed with code 404 for http://api.themoviedb.org/3/tv/1437/seas...anguage=en
12:05:08.169 T:8396 ERROR: ADDON::CScraper::Run: Unable to parse web site

Possibly a problem at TMDB

Only the first episode is scraped OK !
("The crew of Serenity take on a train heist commissioned by a crime lord. They steal the goods, only to find it is medicine that's desperately needed by the town.")
The rest are not!

Yes, the first episode did scrape.

I don't know the reason for the fail. I wanted to confirm the problem, but my Kodi is in use at the moment, so it won't be until tomorrow (my time)

The error has been found. Hopefully another member may be able to figure out if the code 404 is caused by a problem with the TMDB or Kodi or API.

Ok, thank you so much for all the help!
I wait until tomorrow than to see if the problem is confirmed by you.

I thought this problem sounded vaguely familiar.

There is another person reporting the same problem, but with Czech language...

http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid2582926

He is using TVDB as his scraper. I would say it is highly unlikely that both TVDB and TMDB have exactly the same problem at the same time. It is looking more like a Kodi problem now.

Okay, I will still expect a response from you or anyone else who can help in this regard. Maybe tomorrow if you have free time, you will also try to confirm the problem in Kodi.

LE1. I just noticed that I misspelled TVDB instead of TMDb in the post title. Can it be changed to TMDb?

LE2. This is a reply by Travis Bell from TMDb suport forum, maybe it helps:

" I'm not sure if I'll be able to help very much, but looking at some of the errors, it's because the requested episodes don't exist (I've removed the API key so the URLs won't work if you copy and paste them from here).

ERROR: CCurlFile::Open failed with code 404 for http://api.themoviedb.org/3/tv/1437/seas...anguage=en
12:05:00.088 T:8396 ERROR: ADDON::CScraper::Run: Unable to parse web site

ID 1437 is Firefly, and naturally, it doesn't have a season 4. I am not sure why Kodi tried to get data for a nonexistent season/episode.

Actually, ALL of your errors look like Kodi is trying to get seasons and episodes from Firefly that don't exist. I would contact Kodi and report the bug/issue.

Cheers.``

Well I tested this and I was unable to replicate the problem.

My steps...
1. Add new Source- "TV Shows Overflow"
2. Scraper- TMDB
3. Language- ro (Romanian)
4. Added Firefly 14 episodes as Stub Files
5. Updated library
6. Access show via Main Menu>TV Shows

All 14 episodes scraped. I have thumbnails, episode titles, actor thumbs, directors, ratings etc for each episode. The only thing missing is Plot Summary.

My naming convention is...
E:\TV Shows Overflow\Firefly\Firefly S01E01.mkv
E:\TV Shows Overflow\Firefly\Firefly S01E02.mkv
E:\TV Shows Overflow\Firefly\Firefly S01E03.mkv
etc

Do my 6 steps above match your setup?

Just had another look at your log and missed this first time...

F:\Firefly\Firefly (2002)\Firefly S01 1080p Blu-ray Remux AVC DTS-MA 5.1 - KRaLiMaRKo\Firefly S01E01

Which is your source? It is a very verbose directory structure. I think you might be confusing the scraper.

Ok, I am not very good with english so when I said that the description is missing I ment that the PLOT,the summary for each episode is missing,so you did replicate the problem.

Ok. Lost in translation.

You haven't entered the episode data for the Romanian translation page at TMDB. You have entered the TV Show synopsis, but each episode is still empty of a Romanian episode translation.

It is defaulting back to English, but you are trying to scrape Romanian.

---Edit---
See here... https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/1437-firef...uage=ro-RO

but no Romanian translations here or on subsequent episodes... https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/1437-firef...uage=ro-RO
