Solved Support for Closed Caption in live/recorded TV streams
#1
I have an HDHomeRun system that streams my tv channels and embeds a closed caption stream within it, but Kodi does not read this stream.
Attached is a sample news clip that has the closed captioning (you can see it when played through VLC > Subtitles > Closed captions 1, but you can't see any subtitle tracks within Kodi).

I'm just looking to see if this has been explored before and if it is possible.

There is a forum for HDHomeRun where you have a better chance of people with experience in your setup seeing and responding to your post.

Would you like your post moved there?

You need to enable closed caption parsing via Kodis settings.

Perfect suggestion, thanks!

Never thought to look for that setting outside of the Live TV/PVR settings in Kodi.

For future people with a similar issue: Settings > Player Settings > Language > Subtitles > Enable parsing for closed captions
