thanks for the hint, but I don't see where the problem is at the moment..

what kind of artwork is supposed to be a thumbnail.jpg?
In earlier version of Kodi (wiki) that was a "smaller" kind of fanart like in https://fanart.tv/movie/20453/3-idiots/ at the bottom. I recently saw that the wiki has been changed the file naming pattern of this file to landscape.jpg - we've already changed that for a future version, but we the release takes some more time...

Ok, understand. I don't understand the purpose of the movie thumb though. In some scenarios, it seems to get caught up in the Poster view.

Just from what I see...

This is a view of artwork in use for movie. Thumbnail is present and is 16:9 ratio. For some reason, this was being called up as Poster art in some views. Sorry can't recall which views, it was a while ago. This is artwork TMM downloaded... https://ibb.co/hdXekv It is 1000x562 size.

This is a movie where I did not use TMM. Kodi just scraped directly from TMDB. Thumb seems to be set to Poster ratio.

An example where I used TMM and the Thumb is getting caught up in Poster view. Although in this case, it did not distort the artwork as it did in the other thread.

I suppose I am asking, does TMM need to download a thumb.jpg?

Hopefully I am not completely misunderstanding what is happening Smile

first off all - in tmm the user has the whole control over what is getting downloaded ( http://www.tinymediamanager.org/images/s...ings07.png ).

which image is displayed where heavily depends on the skin you use IIRC. According to the kodi wiki from the past (when we developed the "extra artwork") thumb represented a thumbnail fanart (or screen capture in the case of TV shows) rather than a thumbnail of the poster..

looking at your example from UP (https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/14160-u...es/posters or https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/14160-u...es/posters or https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/14160-u.../backdrops ) tmdb does not provide thumbs per se. I think that the newer implementation of the tmdb scraper in kodi interprets the smaller version of the poster now as a thumb (rather than the old thumb style).

Looks like there where some "definition" changes on thumbnails recently so we now have two different meanings for thumbs (and maybe the old kodi versions or other skins still interpret the the way we developed it?)

so how to solve? hard to say.. Like I wrote earlier we changed the naming scheme of the thumbnails to landscape.jpg in the next big update - but I cannot say how older Kodi versions or other skins behave....

Thanks mlaggner.

Yes, it is a difficult one to solve if trying to keep every version of Kodi working. It seemed the new Estuary skin was the one having trouble. When I used Aeon Nox it wasn't a problem, its only when I started trying Estuary that it all became noticeable. Now I have moved onto Rapier skin, and no issues there, but it is hard to prove any point with that as I had already re-adjusted the thumbnail posters.

Thanks for looking into it.Smile

Hi,  Just wondering if landscape.jpg has been implemented yet?  If it has -  can you tell me what setting this is as all my mine are being saved as thumb.jpg?

Thanks.
