If you have time for dumb questions - can you explain that? Is the kernel also an issue on the "official" nightlys for LibreLELEC. What does the 5.4.16 better than the 5.5er?

As mentioned in the Linux 5.5 PR:

popcornmix Wrote:5.4 is the kernel we are developing against (including John and Maxime for v4l2/kms). We will aim to support 5.5 as well, but it will be less well tested. As long as you can easily switch between 5.4 and 5.5 to confirm if there are regressions on 5.5 we can probably cherry-pick or fix it up, but it might be worth doing initial testing on 5.4 as it's more likely to be working with new features.

So to reduce development/maintenance overhead for popcornmix etc. we'll keep the RPi project on 5.4.y until such time as the v4l2/kms changes are in better shape, and then switch back to the mainline kernel (which might be 5.6.y, depending on how long this takes) once it has parity with 5.4.y.

I am seeing issues when playing videos from Amazon Prime with recent builds on my RPi3+.  It is not 100% reproducible for me right now, but I'd still like to share my experience.  Example of the video I want to play: https://www.amazon.de/Bobo-und-die-Babys...B0108LXI2W
  • #0117 – everything working w/o issue
  • #0129 – functions better, but I had 1 crash when playing 3 videos
  • #0207 – I managed to play 1 video, but others crash and lead to a restart (1x, 5x crashes)
My feeling is that CMMAL might be the issue, i.e. excerpts from crash logs below.  Please let me know if I should file a bug against i.e. inputstream.adaptive or plugin.video.amazon-test.

@Milhouse

* Most recent crash running #0129: http://ix.io/2bf7
* http://ix.io/2bf8
* http://ix.io/2bf9
* http://ix.io/2bfa
* http://ix.io/2bfb
* http://ix.io/2bfc

Edit, 3 more crashes with #0129 when starting Videos from Amazon Prime.  Kodi didn't hard crash i.e. my SSH session was still alive, so perhaps just Kodi crashed but the RPi stayed up.  I am reverting for now to #0117 and will try to bisect in the next days
