v19 LibreELEC Testbuilds for x86_64 (Kodi 19.0)
confirming that build #0316 fixes this bug:
https://forum.libreelec.tv/core/ticketsy...9-2-9-2-1/

sound device is configurable and working.

Can those with the audio issue also try 5.6-rc6 _without_ any blacklist workaround (ie. confirm audio is broken with a pre-#0316 build, then update to the 5.6-rc6 release)? It would be useful to know if there is any progress in 5.6 which might make the workaround added in #0316 (for use with 5.5.x) unnecessary once we switch to 5.6.0. We had one person on the LE team indicate that 5.6-rc6 is working fine without any workaround, but given the random nature of this issue that could be by chance.

Yes, we can Wink

upgrading from #315 to #0315x (from Kernel 5.5.9 to 5.6-rc6) fixes the audio issue too.

on an Intel NUC 8i3BEH (Bean Canyon) "HD Audio DSP" in the bios was during the upgrade always Enabled.

Great, many thanks. It would be terrific if we could get at least another 2 or 3 confirmations that 5.6-rc6 now fixes this issue - the original failure is somewhat random in nature, and there have been several attempts at fixing it in the pre-5.6 kernel (none of which succeeded) hence my uncertainty regarding any fix in 5.6-rcX!

what holds you off to place a call in this thread:
https://forum.libreelec.tv/thread/21536-...and-audio/

there are all or most people together with different NUC's which suffer from this bug, too.
I guess it's the best audience benefiting at most to get this bug fixed.

It would be wise to give an instruction at hand how to run builds from an usb stick, otherwise they would be afraid to damage their installs and reject the call/tests.
Please place the instruction on page 1 in this thread, it's missing there - for my taste -

Set your HTPC to boot from USB as the primary choice. Then...

1. Bootup LibreELEC USB thumbdrive created with the  “LibreELEC USB-SD Creator” app from the LibreELEC website (or make it with Rufus or your preferred software tool).
2. After booting you am presented with a menu with 3 choices: Install, Run, or Live.
Install installs LE on the hardrive of the HTPC, wiping out any existing OS's and files.
Run installs LE onto the same USB thumbdrive in a "persistent" state, and saves changes such as libraries and add-ons. Additionally, it makes the USB thumbdrive boot to the "Run" condition by default from then on. On a USB 3.0 device in a USB 3.0 port it is as fast as a native installation.
Live runs LE from the USB thumbdrive but I don't think it is persistent, doesn't save any changes you make, libraries, add-ons, etc.

So type Run and hit Enter before the Installation timer runs out.

Wait for LE to do it's thing, your HTPC will reboot into LE, running from the USB thumbdrive.

This method uses the HTPC's ram and hardware, but doesn't make any changes to the device's hard drive.

I'm fairly sure that we'd end up trashing working systems thanks to Python3 so that's not really a mess I want to get involved with right now... the vast majority of testers in this thread are using Intel CPUs with integrated GPUs (ie. NUCs) so we should have been able to find a couple of people able to test #0315, #0315x and #0316 but whatever... we have two confirmed reports so I'll drop the workaround from 5.6-rc builds.

Don't hold your breath on that, this could be pure coincidence (as we had in LE9.2). I haven't noticed any changes between 5.5 and 5.6-rc that would change legacy/sst/sof probing.

Long-term goal seems to be to move to the SOF drivers (with opensource DSP code) but we don't have them enabled in LE and don't ship the SOF firmwares either.

So, for the time being, it may be best to default to hda-intel (as we don't ship sst firmwares either).

so long,

Hias
