Can you give example screenshots (Windows/18.6 and LE)? What does mediainfo say about the files - matches Windows or LE?

Why Generic builds are still based on Kodi-X11 and not Kodi-gbm?
Kodi-gbm works great on modern Intel and AMD and even HDR is now usable on Gemini Lake with Kwiboo's patches. Why not ditch X11 already?

I thought I read LE was dropping support for NVidia. NVidia is ignoring Linux, right?

There was a plan for Nvidia to be dropped by Kodi, which would then have made it a no-brainer for LibreELEC to drop Nvidia as well.

However as that hasn't happened we continue supporting Nvidia users because at this time they continue to make up a not insignificant number of LibreELEC x86_64 users.

Nvidia support in Kodi currently has no maintainer, and it's possible glx will become deprecated which Nvidia requires so if either break in future it will likely result in the PR being re-opened.

While Kodi continues to support Nvidia there may be options that would allow LibreELEC to switch Intel/AMD to GBM, while keeping Nvidia alive on X11, but a single x86_64 image supporting that dual configuration is likely to be messy and complex. Splitting Generic into x11 and non-x11 versions might be easier but increases the maintenance overhead. Neither option is trivial or clear cut, and fudging the issue may be unnecessary if Kodi does decide to drop Nvidia as originally planned during Kodi 19.

LibreELEC could also consider dropping Nvidia support although (IMHO) that's unlikely to happen in LE10/Kodi 19 (unless there's a change of status upstream) but may be an option for LE11/Kodi 20 - by then nvidia-legacy driver support will be dropped for sure as it's already EOL and on kernel life-support, leaving fewer Nvidia users to upset despite them being on notice for at least 2 years.

And adding a lot of complexity to LE10/Kodi 19 (dual binary or split project) only to dump it all in LE11/Kodi 20 doesn't make a great deal of sense, either.

tl;dr: So, what about GBM? Our hands are a little tied, at the moment.

Yes, I'm fairly sure the issue isn't resolved by PR17579. I'm not entirely sure if it's making the original issue worse, or the original issue didn't describe the problem in sufficient detail. It now seems to be affecting not only uninstall/reinstall of the same addon, but updates of addons too (which, I suppose when you think about it, may amount to the same thing only different versions). I've left comments and log information on PR17579.

I'll remove PR17579 from future builds to see if the update problem continues so that we can rule out the PR making the situation worse.
