Does XBMC for windows support dvr-ms format files?
#1
I've just discovered xbmc - looks great! I've been playing around with it on my htpc for the last couple of weeks and have just installed the XBMC-Atlantis_alpha3 release (on WinXP sp3).

One of my needs is to be able to play back dvr-ms files recorded using DVB Webscheduler. My scan of the forums and http://www.xpmediacentre.com seems to indicate xbmc should play dvr-ms files (not completely sure if this is true on windows or only on an xbox?).

When I was using the release prior to alpha3, xbmc simply crashed when trying to play a dvr-ms file. Now with alpha3 installed I get an error, skipping unplayable item per below. Note that WMP11 plays this file fine.

Is this working as designed or should I be logging a bug?

dvr-ms support is very shaky. it sometimes works, it sometimes play choppy. the format is not understood properly to work.
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first.

thanks, have read I little more, does this mean that statements like

Quote:As of build r9976 ffmpeg now natively supports full DVR-MS. As a result you can use any compile of ffmpeg that you wish (as long as its r9976 or greater).

over at DVRMSToolbox here are incorrect? Or is there something else to this that I don't understand?

I can confirm that Windows Media Center recorded DVR-MS files either fails to play or causes XBMC for Windows Atlantis 8.10 to hang requiring a Task Manager forced quit.

Per this thread, http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/5139 , the bug appears to be fixed in the Linux SVN, and I can confirm that it is fixed in Plex, and plays fine on Xbox XBMC. That leaves only the windows version unable to play files that were recorded originally on windows OS.

How do I go about requesting a fix from the windows group? This and Canon AVCHD are the last stumbling blocks to me replacing my hybrid Xbox/Windows Media Center setup.

doesnt help anybody by doing a bump.

download the latest SVN build (link in my sig), try and play whatever you want to play, if it doesnt work, post a debug log as detailed in this sticky:

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=42708

or check on trac to see if there is a ticket already for this, if there is, there is not reason to bump this unless you try a patch mentioned on trac and report here if it works....
