Quick question about screen res...
#1
My LCD TV in the bedroom only has a native resolution of 640x480. Now this is no biggy for watching SD TV or DVD's.

Last night I installed Ubuntu and set the resolution to 800x600. Things got a little fuzzy, but still generally readable. When I dropped the res. down to 640x480 it looked fine.

I am going to download xbmc for linux tonight. Will xbmc run at a screen res of 640x480 or will I have to set the pc to 800x600 and let the tv downscale?

I don't have the $$$ to buy a new screen this month, so this is a short term stop gap.

Thanks for the help.

You should just be able to set xbmc to 480p and all should be well (maybe your desktop res too? not sure). It'll do some scaling itself if you're playing moves larger than 480p, but my guess is that ffmpeg's scaling would be better than the built in one in your tv.

xgrep
return null;

We can set the viewport to any TV res, and anything your monitor/gfx card can handle (desktop is one of the options). So you should be fine.
