Configuration:
- Ubuntu 8.04 i686
- configure, make, make install
- XBMC r15517
- Audio output via optical
- Default ALSA configuration, no .asoundrc
- All sound devices are turned up and unmuted via alsamixer
Audio not able to be passed through (e.g. MP3) fails to playback when the audio device is set to 'default'. No audio is output to my receiver in this scenario. AC3 and DTS tracks play fine when the audio device is 'default'. This happens for both music tracks and video files.
If I change the audio device to 'iec958', all audio tracks play back fine. AC3 and DTS tracks continue to play fine. However, this configuration makes music crossfade fail as explained in http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?p=217661.
Audio Fails: http://pastebin.com/f44b2bafd
Audio Works: http://pastebin.com/fb93281b
Let me know if there's anything else I can provide to help troubleshoot this.
