USB stick "assuming drive cache"
#1
Hi.

Happy as one can be I went out to buy a cheap USB stick. I found one at the local dealer. 16gb Zap slider or whatever the name is.

I popped in XBMC Live and started USB creator.

Unfortunately it reports the drive as Not Removable in the list. After a while I get some info on the sdb, just below the list.

[ 123.969466] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] Assuming drive cache: write through
[ 123.993004] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] Assuming drive cache: write through

Should I have bought a more expensive stick or is there something I can do?
How should it be formatted?

Thanks in advance!

I have never played with sticks before. It seems to be a generic UT165 stick. I found a small software called UDF-utility. Now it seems that it reports as removable after formatting a small 500 mb security sector on it. Wierd, but now it works.

Asked and answered. Smile
