I got XBMC into my Kubuntu pc. Good so fare.

Since its a MS MCE compatible remote so trie to install it as a Windows MCE remote (NEW version) in Lirc (first install lirc and then start lirc in a terminal and then you choose to input witch remote).

Whats not working?
If lirc isnt installed open a terminal and try: sudo apt-get install lirc
Then it installs it will ask you witch remote to use.
If you have done this it might me a good idee to relogon to make shure the lirc deamon is running, then start XBMC.
If it wont work please describe there/how for better help.
