if I have a WMV that plays fine in Winamp but in XBMC I get no audio at all. What can I do to fix this? I have CCCP installed for my codecs but I'm not sure how XBMC handles codec.

I would recommend you to make available small clip so that it's possible to investigate it. For example upload to rapidshare or something similar.

XBMC does not use any windows codec, it uses FFMpeg for video playback, and WMV support is iffy, because of MS's specs for WMVs. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for better WMV support, but you never know.
and FFMpeg is worked on by a different group of developers, not the xbmc guys, so please requesting FFmpeg improvments/support here won't get you much.
