The Easy way to organise all your TV shows
#1
Hi Guys,

I just wanted to share a couple of tools with you that I use that can make your TV downloading life alot easier.

SCRU - http://codebyte.org/scru.php

SCRU monitors your download folder and automatically unpacks your RAR files into a folder of your choice. Works for all your downloads.

TV Rename - http://www.tvrename.com

TV Rename is very comprehaensive and has alot of functions but its main one is to automatically rename and move your downloaded TV shows. So after SCRU unpacks to a specific folder TV rename can scan it, rename your files and move them to the right Season folder.

It also tells you when shows are next on, give your Episode guides etc too.

Using 2.1 b3. Got it installed, but it didn't do much else. I could add shows to 'My Shows', I went to 'monitor folders' and put in a path to Jag, but when i go to the 'renaming' tab, it remains blank and clicking on 'search' does nothing.

documention was not much good as its for v2.0 and the info for the renaming feature assumes it's all working.

would have been a cool program to rename shows, but so far, i couldn't get that to work.

Thats Odd. All you should have to do is go to Folder Monitor, add the Root Folder that contains your TV shows (or however many sources). Thenck click Check.

It will then list all the shows in those folders. Then click Full Auto in bottom left and it wills can them on TVDB and assign the TVDB Code to each show. Or you can do each show manually if you think any might be innacurate.

Once each show has a TVDB ID or you are done just click Done and it will add them all to My Shows.

I removed and re-installed and did what you said above. At work on a notebook running xp i could add the folder in 'folder monitor' and when I clicked 'check' it did add the path to 'new show' middle box on same tab, but only the path, not the shows inside the folder. rename tab unforturnately was still blank and the check button there still didn't do anything. Having said this, i didnt' click on 'full auto' at work, ill try that tomorrow.

I got home and did the same on my pc running vista 32 bit and when i added the folder in 'folder monitor' tab and clicked on 'check' it did nothing this time, it didnt add it to the 'new shows' section of the 'folder monitor' tab, which I think means the 'full auto' button wouldn't work and didn't. Also when I click done on the 'folder monitor' tab, it doesn't add it to the 'my shows' tab.

I dont want to give up on this program as it would be nice to have all my shows renamed, but at the moment, v2.1 b3 doesnt work for me....... Sad

It's really weird. I installed 2.1 beta 1 and now it shows three episodes out of 24 that are in a folder. It doesn't quite have the episodes right but seems to pick the ones below a certain file size?!?

Just like the other poster I'd hate to give up on it as the program has potential but am really stuck here.

Some time ago I started on a small project called MediaRenamer which is available on http://code.google.com/p/mediarenamer/

It supports TV Shows (names from episodeworld.com) and Movies (from imdb.com). I didn't have much time to continue on it but I am using the latest 2.0 myself here and it works pretty well. My shows are order by "seriesname\season XX\episodefile.avi" but it should also find it if you have the file in an unsorted folder e.g. your download folder.

If you have any errors in it just post them in the Google Code issues and I will try to address them. There is usually more progress when I see that people are actually using it since that is a nice motivation - if it pretty much does what I need it to do I don't do much polishing and get lazy Wink

These are Deep Space Nine episodes. The numbering scheme is

DS9S{season}D{disc number}-{title}-{starting chapter)-(ending chapter}

This is pretty much the standard format how Handbrake spits it out. It is somewhat customizable. I would like to get it into a format that XBMC could recognize, i.e. pull information from the database for.

Can I use either program to do it? When I let it scan it seems to do some random renaming which somehow includes the directory and then issues a number of messages that the series 'HB_OUT' (the name of the directory) cannot be found.

YES!! right out of the box it worked, and I used your version 1.3 to do it. Pointed it to JAG, and it removed all the junk leaving me with the name of the show, series and episode number, and the name of episode Big Grin

Then I used XBMC Media Companion to scrape and it pulled them in without a hitch Nod

You say you have a 2.0, I'm interested Smile
