Changing system sound

I just downloaded XBMC_for_Mac-Atlantis-Beta_2 and like what I see so far. I have one question/problem however.

In Frontrow when you change the volume it adjusts the system volume. When I adjust the volume in XBMC the maximum level within the application is only as high as the system level. Is there a way configure XBMC to do that? I find myself turning the volume up in XBMC only to discover that I need to get off the couch to turn it up more.
