What the heck is it using so much CPU for when idling?
#1
I looked task manager when starting up XBMC (or went into the system info) and it burns 40% of the CPU doing nothing. It uses 55% when playing a movie. This means doing absolutely nothing it uses as much CPU as playing THREE MOVIES in concert.

Something isn't right there. Is it the skin? I mean, it really only works the clock or am I missing something?

Try turning V-Sync off at least in the menus.
If you have an ATI card, try tweaking the settings in catalyst. I found this made a huge difference.

Otherwise, this is a known issue that is being worked on and it is getting much better as time goes along. A quick search of the forums will yield a *lot* of info regarding this matter.
The XBMC team, plug-in devs, skinners, etc. do this for us for FREE in their spare time because they want to. Think about that for a second before you start bitching...
