I get the task bar flashing in full screen when watching movies. I have tried auto hiding the task bar but to no avail. I am assuming it is a refresh rate issue with my graphics chipset (Intel 965). This is with Vista Ultimate by the way.

Something in XBMC calling the Windows startbar ?
This appear arround every 2 seconds.

I don't see this in fullscreen, maybe because activemovie window is on top.
Can someone else try, if he have the same problem in windowed mode ?

It's certainly not xbmc doing it. I suspect it's something installed in your taskbar that's doing it (or something else one the system).

Unfortunatly I'm sure is not coming from another app in the start bar,
because when I stop XBMC, the problem disapear immediatly.

I forgot to say that startbar flashing only when "auto-hide" option is on.
If starbar is not hided, you can't see the problem.

Please try this :
- Choose to Auto-Hide Windows Start bar (in start bar properties)
- Start XBMC windowed

Is the Starbar now flashing ?

Infos about my System :
XBMC version : Final
OS : Vista Ultimate
Windowed mode : Auto
Screen Resolution : 1600x900

Works fine for me on XP. As I say - there's nothing we're doing code-wise on a regular basis that would cause such a thing to occur.

I tested Atlantis yesterday in Vista SP1 Ultimate in windowed mode and Taksbar wasn't flashing. ATI HD3200 onboard with 8.11 drivers

Try to uncheck "Keep the taskbar on top of other windows" from Taskbar properties.
See if it helps.

That solves it but it then screws up using anything else and having the taskbar visible.

- Keep the taskbar on top of other windows -> checked & unchecked -> Problem still
- Nothing open except XBMC

What I can say more ? Quick Launch Bar is active

Nothing special running in systray :
- Snag It -> stoped -> Problem still
- Tea Timer (Spybot) -> stoped -> Problem still
- Kaspersky -> stoped -> Problem still
- Log Me In -> stoped -> Problem still
- Widget Bar -> stoped -> Problem still

As you can see everything are stoped :


In XBMC :
- Mouse support -> stoped -> Problem still
- RSS Feed -> stoped -> Problem still
- Theme -> Changed -> Problem still

I have just installed the newest version and am also seeing the flashing taskbar both when it is set to auto hide and when its not.

I'm not sure if is related but after I installed I had to recalibrate the screen in XBMC. Every previous version worked fine immediately after install. This one required a massive amount of recalibration.

I am running also Windows Vsta Home Ultimate and Kaspersky... Other than these apps there is nothing other than the usual services and IR Server. I am running the newest NVidia drivers (downloaded yesterday). Perhaps if we each compiles a list of all apps installed, hardware, etc we can find something in common.

I only see the taskbar during startup which isn't nice but no major issue but I can't reproduce the other things.

Only at start up for me on two PCs. The thing is though it wasn't always like that.
