Problems with tearing 177.80 nvidia
#1
Hello all xbmc-users.

i'm running on ubuntu 8.10 with xbmc installed. Everything works like a charm expect I have problems with tearing effects. Synk to vblank is activated in nvidia drivers (both on xv and gl) and also in compiz session manager.
I have both smplayer and mplayer an the i can choose xv or gl as video output. And then i get none problems with tearing-effects.
Iś it possible to choose either xv or gl for xbmc. I would save my day. Iḿ so impressed though by xbmc for linux.
In vista i ran Mediportal but this is even better.
If i just could get rid of these problems with tearing effects.

Oh yes.......iḿ on x64 ubuntu 8.10.

Please give mes som advise..............henrik

Set Vsync to Always On in XBMC as well(It's in Settings). Also, disable compiz. That has known to cause issues.

Is it possible to change the video output. I don't know what is default, gl or x11. If I could run video in xv it would fix me problems. I also have compiz fusion activated........i like this functions to much to have them disabled. Is ther no other trick to make things work properly.

I had big problems with tearing in all the others players to before i wrote this in sessions

nvidia-settings --load-config-only

Take smplayer for example. There I can use both xv and gl,gl2 without any kind of tearing..........i't must be a fix for this to xbmc

There is only opengl.

Again, if you are having vsync issues, did you enable it in xbmc?

Use pastebin.ca.

Show us xbmc.log as well.

Also, your xorg.conf looks odd. Two screen sections?

I have no tearing either. It must be your configuration.

If you don't know how to use pastebin, then you have bigger issues.

Sorry.
