Hi everyone:

I'm new on XBMC Live.

My home network disabled the DHCP function, so I modified the /etc/network/interfaces file.

Now I get Weather working, but when I trying to connect NAS or any other computer on my network using SMB or FTP in "My Video", XBMC always telling me Connection Refused or Connection Timeout.

Now really I get confused. Did I missed something? please help, thanks a lot!

P.S:my XBMC Live's HDD installed. I typed smb://nas or smb://nas/ or smb://192.168.0.2 or smb://192.168.0.2/, none of above's working.

Specs:
XBMC Live 8.10 Atlantis, installed on HDD
Inter Celeron D 331 2.66GHz
GigaByte GA-8I945PL-G
Kinston 1GB DDR2
nVidia 6200LE with 265M

First off, FTP won't work, as FTP functionality has been removed from XBMC Live, you need to use SFTP or SSH to access the filesystem.

SMB, on the other hand, should work. If you are getting Weather information, then you have network connectivity. Did you create an appropriate account on your NAS for SMB access through XBMC, or give XBMC the right u/n and p/w combination? Did you fill in the correct workgroup, if any, information? SMB connectivity on the NAS works with other computers on your network, correct?
