Launch xbmc from Vista media centre
#1
First off, really sorry if this has been posted elsewhere. I've read a bunch of long, long threads and haven't been able to find the answer to my query.

I'm running Vista Home Premium and my M$ MCE remote works fine in xbmc without any additional software.

I'm looking for a way to launch xbmc from within MCE. In other words I want to navigate through the regular MCE menus to Program Library (actually the TV/Library library would be more convenient for me personally) and find an xbmc launcher there. When I exit xbmc I want to come back to MCE.

Googling tells me that xbmc needs to be registered as an MCE application.

Now all this looks pretty scary to me, involving API's exe wrappers and all kinds of techie magic. Has anyone done this, and care to give some tips please? Or, am I barking up the wrong tree i.e. is there an easier way to do it?

thanks, Paul

You won't find this by googling anything like "launch apps from MCE" so for anyone else who's looking - check out the excellent MC Menu Mender app. It worked perfectly for me.

This app automates the scary process I mentioned in my op.

For anyone looking to do what I wanted, the key thing to remember is to click the Add Entry Point icon, populate with the xbmc details, then click into Entry Points at the bottom left side and drag the newly added Entry Point to the menu of your choice.
