Comics - bug

Quote:filerar::open failed to cache file 00-CW-CheckList.jpg

The problem is in the unrar code. I believe spiff mentioned something in channel yesterday that may be the problem?

Cheers,
Jonathan

I briefly tried to debug it yesterday and it fails in CRarManager::GetFileInRar because it2=j->second.second isn't filled.

I was able to reproduce this issue as well, is this fix going into the next build?

I had this problem too - it was caused by the "#" symbol in the filename of the jpg images making up the comic.

If you unzip/unrar one of the comic files that isn't working and find a "#" symbol in the filename of one of the jpg's - that's the error.

The solution to this is to rename the jpg files, taking out the "#" symbol

Hope this helps.....

Would love to fix that...

But at 200 + comics, each with about 40 jpgs.....

Thats about 8000 files I have to rename, and even with a renaming program unrar that much is going to be a headache Tongue

The attached test file doesn't contain a #.
r16741 solves the issue with the provided testfile for me.

Since I'm not sure if the error reported here http://www.xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=45729 is related to xbmc for linux or might also apply to the windows/mac versions of the client, I would like to ask if there's more people having this issue?

Currently using svn r17906 compiled today on my ubuntu 8.10 box but it still contains this same error:

Could someone confirm this behaviour?

Also tried on .cbr files that did not contain a "#" symbol causing the same error
TIA

Installed the latest precompiled svn version on a vista install and it turns out not to have any problems with comic files that are problematic in linux.
On my MBP I installed the 4 july 2008 svn version for osx which also turns out to have the same issue with the same files.
So obviously both linx and osx suffer this problem where windows does not.
Hopefully someone with some understandingwould be capale to help out.

The error appears to be indeed related to the "#" symbol used in quite some of the comic archive files I'm having. Also .cbz files with a "#" in their name have this issue.
Since other comic viewers (on linux i used comix) don't have trouble with this symbol and also in the windows version of xbmc this bug is not present i have the idea that there's somethign wrong with the unrar/unzip scripts being used in the linux/mac versions of xbmc.
Could someone confirm this? Would there be a solution in the near future? Should I submit a TRAC bug?

Cheers, daf

Just added a bugreport to trac: http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/6475
