I copied my Itunes folders directly to my xbmc dedicated box and scanned them all into the library. I know that the DRM protected stuff won't play, but for the things that I burned into Itunes shouldn't they work? Here is the error I am getting in my log:

17:06:52 T:2364 M:3241332736 ERROR: PAPlayer::Unable to create audio stream
17:06:52 T:2364 M:3241332736 ERROR: Playlist Player: skipping unplayable item: 0, path [musicdb://2/147/48/588.m4a]
17:06:53 T:2364 M:3241156608 ERROR: PAPlayer::Unable to create audio stream
17:06:53 T:2364 M:3241160704 ERROR: Playlist Player: skipping unplayable item: 0, path [musicdb://2/147/48/588.m4a]
17:07:18 T:2364 M:3240763392 ERROR: PAPlayer::Unable to create audio stream
17:07:18 T:2364 M:3240763392 ERROR: Playlist Player: skipping unplayable item: 0, path [musicdb://2/147/48/588.m4a]

Given that m4a is a supported format, can anyone point me to what I am doing wrong?

Try turning debug logging on and seeing if there's any more than that. You can post the full debug log file to pastebin.com for instance.
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first.
