Query on how xmbc media center looks for files
#1
I installed xmbc on ATV and have few queries on how it is looking for files and directory structure.

I have samba mounted network drive on ATV which has tons of iso images

This is what I am doing after mounting network drive

1) from ATV menu select xbmc media center
2) Select Videos from the menu
3) Go to Movies folder (my samba mount is under movies network)
4) Select the folder for the mount (in my case its name is common)
5) Look under common folder

There are no files and everything is blank.

6) login using ssh
7) look under common folder. I can see proper directory structure (like 6 directories)

What is the reason for xmbc to behave like this? Is it not able to look under smb mounts to file files and directory structure.

Thanks

Hmm, the first thing I'd check is whether you have permissions to list that folder (I presume you should) from whatever user XBMC is running as.

Other than that, I'm not sure what the problem could be - you could check the debug log (turn debug logging on first in settings->system) to see what folders it's actually trying to read from.

Cheers,
Jonathan
