[RELEASE] PBS (Video) Addon
For those folks looking for PBS Kids, you might try the USTVVod addon. The PBS Kids channel has lots of Hi-Def videos.

This plugin aint working for latest Kodi. Very sad.

I don't even see this addon included in the ORG's video add ons repo any longer…

Is PBS addon now gone for good?

My boxes with old versions still seem to work fine so I'm hoping that this addon can be revisited for inclusion.

Must be a reason that it was removed entirely, but my research here brings nothing useful.

I hope this add-on gets some attention. I backed up before upgrading. And I was able to get the add-on back into Kodi but the videos won't play. The error message says to check the log file. I would but don't know where they are kept.

This is an all time great and LEGAL plugin to lose it in Kodi would be devastating. Hoping someone can step in here and keep PBS alive. So much incredible content....

Any progress on fixing this for Kodi?

I agree this is really bad that this is missing.

For all you wonderful add on makers, would be a perfect opportunity to actually work/collaborate with PBS as a provider.

Any chance the pbskids add on could be tweaked to work with PBS?

USTVVOD supports both PBSKids and PBS. PBS does actauly provide documenation of how to use their APIs.

I have an addon written for Thinktv.org which is actually PBS with all the US local channels. This is really a pre-release and needs a fair bit more work to be finished. I currently only display full episodes of shows. I think you'll find nearly the same content as the original PBS addon except for PBSKids, which I'll get to at some point. The addon is named plugin.video.thinktv and you can get it in my git:

https://github.com/learningit/plugin.video.thinktv/

Let me know if it works for you.

UPDATE: Version 1.0.3 adds Search and A to Z Program listings

I have created a new thread for the PBS Thinktv addon here: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=216810
Please use the new thread for the Thinktv addon. Thanks!

I rather like the 'old' PBS add-on, but I could offer one suggestion for improvement: under the programs tab, programs are only sorted by name ... it would be nice if we could sort by Aired Date, i.e. American Experience has a mini-episode aired on 2/10/2016, so that would be the aired by date for that program.

Come to think of it, I suppose I'd love the ability to filter out episodes with less than a specified duration: I enter 11 minutes under add-on options, and all the chaff disappears.

Oops, that's two! Smile

Unfortunately there is no easy way to get the aired date from the PBS site after their update. It does exist, but is on individual pages for each episode, and as such, would be very slow to process.
