[LINUX] Stop movie playback before shutdown
#1
Question
Hi all,

I'm currently running XBMC 8.10 LIVE on my media center. And I recently had to reinstall the system twice. This happend because ALSA mixer seems to have a old-age bug in which sound is totally gone when the system is shutdown while playing a dts/dolby stream etc over something like spdif.

This problem occured to me twice when i was watching a dvd iso on XBMC and just turned of the system by pressing the power button. The second time this happend i found out that the above mentioned bug was causing this issue. It can be fixed without reinstaling the system BUT the amount of work put into it depends on your hardware and took me some days to find out at first.

If I stop the movie before shutdown all stays intact. So maybe before the system is shutdown XBMC can stop the currently playing item before initiating shutdown? Sounds quite easy to program actually...

P.s. If this has been posted before, sorry but it's a hard one to find Smile

P.s.2 if people agree on this i will post it in trac but have to head to work right now Big Grin
