Hi there
my question is simple.....the only way to have automatic subtitles (.srt) in my own videos is to rename them with same name of the file?
I mean having subtitles on top of video without manually selecting them.

Using ffmpeg library for directshow (ffdshow) it is possible to use "heuristic search" for subtitles. Is there something similar in ffmpeg "classic"?

there is not. simple answer. Renaming subtitle to match video filename takes me about 2 seconds.
