Try searching for python24.dll and imagelib.dll

actually, what is happening, is it will not play any mp3s until after i play a movie. if i reboot xbmc, i have to start a movie first...

what do you mean searching for python24.dll and imagelib.dll, could you elaborate? My python24.dll is located in C:\Program Files\XBMC\system\python and my imagelib.dll is located in C:\Program Files\XBMC\system

Im using Jester's Rev17298 build.

I meant searching these forums for python24 and imagelib. The problem is because win32dllloader isn't finding the dll's in their current directory for whatever reason.

Evidently loading a movie also properly loads the MADcodec.dll file. Maybe try setting the default music player to use DVDPlayer instead of PAPlayer in your advancedsettings.xml will fix your problems.

I have tied an old build (XBMCSetup-Rev17143-jester.exe) and still no luck. At this point my mp3s do not work at all. wondering if it was that stupid mediaportal that messed everything up?

Code:
16:51:22 T:1380 M:1372250112   ERROR: Win32DllLoader::Load: Unable to load C:\Program Files\XBMC\system\players\paplayer\MADCodec.dll (126)

I tried changing the default player in the advancedsettings.xml... no luck

Edit: you didn't create the xml correctly. Your log clearly shows that it's still using paplayer.

Dunno. I can try to add it later.

It should only be trac'ed if more people are having the same problem. MP3 playback still works for me so you have to be a little more specific where the problem could be Wink

ok. So it appears to be working using the dvdplayer as the default. What I don't understand is why this is necessary? I did experience a weird issue after getting it work. After a mp3 has been started and I hit ESC to go back to the main menu, the screen gets all shifted to the lower left quandrant of the tv? The problem resolves itself after I hit the "\" key.

Here are my xml changes:
Code:
<advancedsettings>
    <audio>
        <defaultplayer>dvdplayer</defaultplayer>
    </audio>
</advancedsettings>

Here are what the logs then said :
Code:
11:31:16 T:556 M:1430179840  NOTICE: Default Video Player: dvdplayer
11:31:16 T:556 M:1430179840  NOTICE: Default Audio Player: dvdplayer

I'd also like to add that none of the visualization are working now either....

Hi

I'd just like to add that I am getting exactly the same error. I believe I am using a Jester complied version of XBMC.

I think some of the above errors are when I tried to play a film before I tried the music player Smile

Hope this helps.

Kind regards

Hi

I used the advancedsettings.xml file to change my audio player to dvdplayer and all seems well - I can play mp3's! Still, strange that paplayer dips out?
Cheers
Drew

P.S. As the previous poster detailed, the visualisations don't work when the audio player is set to use dvdplayer. Should I post up a debug log somewhere?

ahem... visualizations work ONLY with paplayer because that's what they're meant t...
anyway, i got just the same problem with xbmc not finding some dlls in special://xbmc with a personal build of r17632
the files are there but somehow xbmc can't reach them, this is on win7... could it be related to uac or maybe to spaced dirs?
of course, dvdplayer works fine... btw, debug log can't find libid3tag.dll and ImageLib.dll too, even if they are right there, in c:\program files\XBMC\system (aka special//xbmc/system)

yeahp maybe so but didn't want to be accused of misholding vital information Smile

Did a bit of messing about. I copied the XBMC to another folder off the root of the system drive with no spaces etc, seemed to work fine albeit all my settings reset themselves. Also put some spaces in the name - still no problems.
