Thanks for quick response mate.

Are you being sarcastic here? Smile

I'm talking about *subs* subtitles (not srt) where subtitle is not being cleared from screen and is overlapped with new ones on top. Every single movie with *subs and idx* files does that, but srt works fine.

My old xbox with xbmc doesn't have this problem, actually it never had subs issues, so I thought if code base is somewhat similar to aTV xbmc it shouldn't be very hard to fix?

It was reported by numerous people and there was issue ticket created with example as well?

Btw, do you know if any of developers are working or at least planning to fix this problem?

I would had thought that was obvious. Your original post and the follow up have told us nothing about the file formats that you are trying to play. A little more information would help people to understand what it is you really need to know. They can then either point you at the information, or offer an answer here.

Yes, my bad.. I somehow thought that devs already know about subtitles issue as it was reported few times already.

Anyway, next time will give full details.

Btw, I wonder how hard would be to fix this issue myself? I have some odd >20 years experience in coding, but not in the area XBMC falls though, probably would take a while to study the code and locate the bug?

You'll need to supply a sample so that someone else can reproduce it.

If it's reproducible, then it needs to be ticketed on trac (if not already).
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first.

I know exactly how you feel.

Subtitles are really an important part of a media player and it is extremely
frustrating that they do not work properly on the 2 platforms i use XBMC on
(Windows and Mac OS X).

Right now, i have put off watching so many movies because they have subs
and if my GF nags me enough, i just convert the movie to hardcode the subs
so we can watch it.

I am really baffled that this has not been taken care off yet as this should be
IMHO a very high priority bug to fix. It really is a showstopper for film buffs because
we are aware that there are so many hidden gems that are filmed in other
languages than English or French. I guess i need to dust-off my Rosetta Stone
29 language DVD and get cracking! Confused

For the people that don't know what we are talking about, here are the 2
showstoppers with regards to subs :

Issue 1 : http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/5551

Issue 2 : http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/5193 (Opened since October 17th)

For me, issue two actually crashes XBMC.exe on Windows XP.
