I have done some testing
If I play an m4v I can get skiploopfilter 8 and play nicely however XBMC won't be able to play MKV files anymore (audio lag)
On the other hand to play MKV I need to set skiploopfilter at least to 32 otherwise it won't play
So in essence as the setting does not depend on resolution or bitrate I think I will keep the player on XBMC with the settings on 32 so that I can play MKV and use Nito or Boxee to play M4Vs content
