Question about a HTPC Idea
#1
Hello All,

So I've done a bit of searching on the forums and while I have found some answers I haven't answered one of my questions.

My question has to do with playing Blu-Ray on a HTPC. I want to eventually purchase a Blu-Ray player but at the same time would also like to replace my aging XBox running XBMC.

I love how my XBox can play DVDs and stream media from my server and network PCs. This is why I would like to build a XBMC HTPC.

My question is this, I have a license for AnyDVD HD, can I have that running in the background and play Blu-Ray through XBMC? AnyDVD HD should take care of the encryption and allow XBMC to play the disc, would this work? Or should I just buy a standalone Blu-Ray player?

Thanks,
Mike

I'm not sure, but if you can't get that to work, as a last resort you could use the external player to play all blu ray disks

in this thread, gnomie claims to have anydvd doing the decryption of the bluray disc, but xbmc playing the files, without actually ripping the disc to HDD first - maybe try PMing him for more details...
