MPEG2 files from MythTV via UPNP not playing
#1
I have a linux MythTV setup that is capturing ATSC video over the air from local TV. I'm able to use XBMC on my MacBook to get to the MythTV UPNP server, but I'm not able to play any of the MPEG2 videos, I just get random multicolor static.

The same videos play fine using BOXEE's UPNP client on the same MacBook or using a PS3.

A video that I had MythTV chop the commercials out of with a "lossless" MPEG2 transcode will play on XBMC though.

Any idea what's up?

I guessing its because mythtv records in TS format, at least for DVB it does. I think that the transcode may have converted that to PS format. TS=Transport Stream, PS=Program Stream.

Try playing the files in a media plauer like VLC or something.

I'm having no luck with UPnP to my Myth backend either. Shows up fine, can see all the records just fine, but won't play anything (won't even attempt). I can play other UPnP sources on my network with no issues.

I tried copying the mpg file over to my Mac, and it plays with no issues in Mplayer and VLC (however not in iTunes/Quicktime).

Anyone have any ideas?

Another note to this, XBMC plays the video just fine when local.
