I am having the same problem on 8.10 with digital spdif audio. My log is the same as the one from the first page.
I went back to the release since I would rather have audio than hulu working on svn. Is there a way to install an earlier ppa svn package so I could have the best of both worlds?

Hello,
I have the same issue with 17700 on 8.04.
DTS passthrough works, as does AC3. No Stereo pass-through.
Seems like Pulseaudio is choosen, even if I kill it (pulseaudio -k) before starting xbmc.
I would like to give you my log, can a Dev tell me a good grep term to shorten the output?
Excerp:

22:25:05 T:2557389712 M: 72376320 NOTICE: Deleting audio codec
Is "no pass-through" intentional?

Don't cut the log. Just send to pastebin.com. Please file a trac ticket.

No, that does not help. elupus put in a bunch of fixes since 17776 (relating to audio).
Try latest again and provide new, uncut log.
Thanks.

That is 17774. Read my note. I said to test latest SVN.
Thanks.

hal, and your issue is different and another known issue. Restart XBMC and play MP3 first (without playing AC3/DTS first).
It should work then.

Use SVN and build yourself.
Anyhow, your issue sounds different than what others are reporting here.
