Windows Shares to ATV giving ditherhered video

Hi there,

Great product - got the latest and greatest on my ATV.

OK, so here's my problem.

I have an OpenSolaris server running as a NAS, storing all my tunes and movies.

If I point the ATV at the movies share, via the XMBC interface, everything shows up and I can play the movies - only bad part is the quality SUCKS!

There is dithering and video artifacts (not a video expert, but it looks like excrement smeared on peoples faces at times) and this makes the experience not worthwhile.

If I use the same share and mount it from a latest gen MacBook Pro and then get the ATV to link to this machine, the movies play without issue.
The files are hosted on the NAS and I change the iTunes movie folder to point to them (so they are not downloaded to the Mac or the ATV).

Going the Apple only route, the video quality is excellent with no aforementioned excrement artifacts.
Is there any way to increase the buffering or chaches used on the XBMC client?
I tried maxing everything under settings but it still looks like sh@t if you pardon the pun Smile

Cheers

Anybody?

Does anyone else have this problem?

If not, how are you streaming movies to the ATV?

Thanks
