XBMC on 8.10 plays sound with sample rate < than 32kHz, at double speed
#1
I'm using 8.10 with SVN (last update 2009-02-25).

The problem I have is that sound files with lower sampling rate (32kHz and lower) it plays at double speed, which I find quite annoying.

If video files contain sound with lower sampling rate it also plays at double speed.

Otherwise sound works perfect, can even play 96kHz 24bit uncompressed PCM master recordings flawlessly.

I'm on ALSA as described in install wiki for 8.10 using HDA intel iec958.

Haven't found any info on this in searches... anyone?

Please provide a sample and a full Debug Log

My guess is that your hw doesnt support 32kHz.

I have the same problem with a 22khz movie. Fast playback speed.

I just reinstalled my box and now it works brilliant.
The only difference is that I changed default output for sound from "iec958" to "default" and let passthrough be iec958.
Might have done the difference...?

alanww1: the lasts steps (in below install guide) were new to me since my last install, maybe it'll help you as well.
Cheers,
C

I also ran into this problem. Changing audio output / passthrough device to default as suggested above solved the problem.
