Plugins for Windows

Hello everyone.
I am not a computer newbee but I am new to XBMC.
I seem to be able to find many plugins for XBox but not windows.
Am I correct to assume that when I do find some plugins all I have to do is put it (or them) into the video directory in the XBMC directory.
Or am I oversimplifying this?
I have searched and read. It seems lie it should be easier, at least from what I have read.
I have also installed Python just in case.
Any help or pointing in the right direction will be helpful.
Thanks.
P.S.
Basically the first plug-in I want is something for video streaming such as Veoh or the like.
Up to now I have just been using a browser on a PC hooked up to my TV.
