IMDB Rating Classifications (G, PG, M etc)
#1
Hi,

Was just wondering if it may be possible in Aeon to use alternate images for classifications depending on where the movies are from.

For example, i'm from Australia and we use ratings that are a little (but note drastically) different from the US. MPAA do not set our ratings, so they are different.

The Australian ratings look something like this:

G

PG
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en...rge_PG.svg

M15+
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en..._M.svg.png

MA15+
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en...2B.svg.png

R18+
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en...2B.svg.png

If this is not a feature or whatever that the community members would like, can anyone point me in the right direction as to how i might go about modifying this for personal use?

404 errors on your image link for myself. FYI you could probably do this yourself but only use 3 of you selected ratings. For example G=G, PG=PG, PG-13=M15+, R=R18+ for any extra ratings that don't have a equivilent to the MPAA ratings you'll most likely need to add code.

Take a look through the Media folder where all the images for the skin are kept. If you can simple find the current MPAA overlays just rename yours the equivalent of the MPAA image. For example rename MA15.png to MPPA-PG-13.png and copy paste it over the original image. Those file names aren't probably right but hopefully you get the idea.

Yeah..>Thanks, i get the idea for changing the image names...And i guess i would just use the same width/height of the originals, or close to it?

Do you happen to know which classification flags are included for the US MPAA in Stark etc? e.g., G, PG-13, M, NC17, R17Huh I'm not too familiar with MPAA classifications and more specifically what ones are used in these situations in XBMC and Stark etc.

Thanks in adv. for any help,.

I'm guessing you could map it to:

G = G

PG = PG

PG-13 = M

R = MA 15+

NC-17 = R

They seem about equivalent. Let me know how this goes, I'm an aussie too so I'd like to see this. I'll have a look myself too when I get the time.

Okay....You don't happen to know where i could get some better OFLC Classification images do you?

Also, does anyone know, should i make these images grayscale for use in the Stark info screen?

They used to be available on the OFLC website, but the site is not fully up due to some individual(s) hacking it and posting an abusive message not long ago. I don't know where else would have the images, I'll have a look tonight when I get home if I remember.

Yeah, i tried today but the site is down...The ones on Wikipedia are pretty bad....I don't have Stark at the moment because i can't download it where i'm at (work)...So, is it possible for someone to upload the the MPAA overlays that Stark uses for me to have a look at etc.?

Preferrably not Mediafire or Rapidshare etc. as i cannot access them...

Hi fellow Aussies.

I started making these last night and finished in my lunchbreak today. They have the Aussie ratings supplemented exactly the same as red tape suggested. It has both the Aussie rating and a smaller MPAA rating contained in one image. You just overwrite the png files contained to your Aeon/Media/Flags directory. I haven't tested yet as I'm at work but let me know how it goes.

Ethan, if you find somewhere else for me to upload them I can.

Added shot of what it should look like (posted to tinypic which took out the sharpness)

Thanks very much...As for uploading elsewhere, what is the file size?

Would you be adverse to emailing it to me as an attachment? I could send you a PM with my email address?

Not a drama mate, it's only 20KB - PM me your address. I also kept it exactly the same shade of grey as djh used for the original flags. If you want coloured stuff I can do it but it probably won't go with the skin unless they are extremely "pastel".

Also forgot to say the files to overwrite are XBMC/Skins/Aeon/Media/Flags/mpaa_[rating].png

Are there people from any other countries in need or want of country-specific classification flags?

Nice job! It might still look alright with the OFLC colours, but these look very nice and I'll put them to good use. Thanks!

They look great! Thank you so much. Would it be at all possible to maybe do a mockup showing just the OFLC classifications without the smaller MPAA one with it? Just curious, but if it would take too much time or effort then i understand...

Thanks again
