confusion with advancedsettings.xml
#1
Hello all, I've searched a bit and have found many conflicting views, on where this file should be created under ubuntu. I found this in a thread () saying it was correct:
Quote:/home/xbmc/.xbmc/userdata/advancedsettings.xml

And i'm a total linux noob, so this directory dosen't exsist for me at all, do i have to create it? My username on this box is "sam", so should my path be:
Quote:/home/sam/xbmc/.xbmc/userdata/advancedsettings.xml

Sorry if this is a repost, but the info in the wiki is, uh nonexsistant... (see the link titled "Please consult your plaform specific FAQ for the appropriate location" in http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=Advancedsettings.xml)

Thanks,

Quote:<user home>/.xbmc/userdata/advancedsettings.xml

is correct. The wiki assumes you are running xbmc as user 'xbmc.' So for you, if you run xbmc as user sam, you would use:

Quote:/home/sam/.xbmc/userdata/advancedsettings.xml

Yea, thanks so much, i'm just basically stupid, when i was using my ls command i forgot ls -a, and I didn't see the folder... and that's all she wrote, I tried getting back here as fast as I could after I realized my mistake, but alas, someone was too quick Smile

Thanks for your quick and helpful response,
