Hi Guys,
I used to work with Mediaportal but now I am trying to switch to
XBMC, mainly because of support for Vista, OS-X and Linux.
However, I have discovered some weird behaviour.
All my DVDs I have in a certain directory structure which I would
like to maintain. Therefore, I prefer to work in file-mode instead
of library mode. In MediaPortal, when I clicked on the directory
which contained the VIDEO_TS folder, the movie would start.
In XBMC, I would like to have the same behaviour. Therefore, I
turn on Stacking. However, there appears a strange behaviour
with sorting when Stacking is maintained. Best thing to explain this
is by a simple example. Suppose I have the following directory structure
on disk:
ROOT
|
|--Aladdin
| |
| |--VIDEO_TS
|
|
|--Lion King
| |
| |--Lion King 1
| | |
| | |--VIDEO_TS
| |
| |--Lion King 2
| |
| |--VIDEO_TS
|
|--Peter Pan
|
|--VIDEO_TS
When working in XBMC in file mode with Stacked Mode "Off", and "Sort by: Name" this shows as follows:
<folder symbol> Aladdin
<folder symbol> Lion King
<folder symbol> Peter Pan
The sorting is correct.
When you want to start a DVD, you have to go into the VIDEO_TS directory
and click on the first VOB file. This is not really "wife proof". Therefore, I turn
on "Stacking". However, with Stacked Mode On, the sorting changes to:
<folder symbol> Lion King
<camera symbol> Aladdin
<camera symbol> Peter Pan
So the sorting is no longer alphabetically. XBMC decides that it first shows the directories
which don't have a VIDEO_TS directory directly below and then the directories which have
a VIDEO_TS directory directly below. To me, this is unacceptable, since I have more than
thousand DVD directories on my 8 TB NAS and I want it to be sorted alphabetically.
Is there some workaround for this?
Or perhaps it is possible to change the way the "Sort by: Name" works with Stacking turned on, because to me it does not sound logical.
Any suggestions are welcome.
thanx!
