Two userdata folders
#1
Hello,

I currently have an issue I've noticed when I boot up my HTPC and have windows autostart XBMC vs. launch XBMC in Windows just like any other program.

I recently downloaded the Aeon skin and set it as my default skin.

When I have windows autoload XBMC on bootup, I've noticed that my skin is still set to the older one I was using (Mediastream). After I quit XBMC and then re-open it, it appears like I would expect after having changed the settings with Aeon.

Since then I've noticed that there are two guisettings.xml files:
C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\XBMC\userdata
C:\Program Files\XBMC\userdata

Both are different for some reason, which explains why the settings were changing. Should I have two userdata folders? Why does XBMC choose a different location for the settings depending on how it's launched?

Thanks!

Odds are that one of your two methods of starting is using the switch '-p'. You are going to want to get rid of that. Right click the link you have in your startup folder. If that switch is there, delete it.

That should take care of it. Now everything should always be saved to

C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\XBMC\userdata

//Alternately, you could always add the -p switch to the other link, but I don't personally do that.
