Problem with almost all video plugins
#1
I can't figure out what is wrong. I have the latest stable version of XBMC-SVN_2009-03-04_rev18221-T3CH installed on my XBOX. The only video plugin I've been able to get video to play through is Apple Movie Trailers II. I try to use AOL Videos, Google Video, Joox, and they all do the same thing. I am able to browse through to a show and it gives me all the episodes, even thumbnails, and when I select it, it just goes to an empty folder and doesn't play anything. Now I'm getting python script errors on some of the plugins as well, like Anitube. If anyone has any idea what's going on and how to fix it, please let me know. These plugins look like a great invention and I'd love to be able to use them.

Thanks,

Aaron

I'm on an xbox and I had go to the Jan 3 build to get my plugins to work. are you connected via wireless bridge or lan? if for wireless bridge, I had to put in the itv catchup plugin for several of my plugins:
see Vionage's post for itv catchup plugin
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...light=time

are you sure they are installed correctly?
I found that using the svn installer is the best and fastest way:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...=installer

you can also directly ftp to the xbmc\plugins\video

visit vionage's page for some plugins. I've added *.py to the corresponding plugins from the repository.zip and they started to work.
Hope that helps.

I hear you on this

plugin stability/reliability has gone to pot these days. i submitted a ticket not so long ago and after a couple of atempts it was tagged as fixed but i still struglle to get much to play even program plugins - launcher and svn repo installer dont seem to want to work,

i am using the latest builds of everything.

Gona do i complete clean install soon and get latest svn versions of plugins again and do some testing so i can add another bug ticket if needed

PS im using xbox so i cant comment for other platforms, but xbox definatley has the plugin problems.

i'm also an xbox user and understand the frustration of things not working quite right.
unfortunately websites that are used for the plugins change very frequently which breaks plugins.

paste your xbmc.log file into pastebin.com or pastebin.ca and paste the link here to see if plugins that are in working order are not working for you.

the plugins that you've named are all pretty old ones that haven't been updated in a while. due to the nature of plugins and the fact that websites change often, if they aren't kept up to date they quit working.

look for the up to date plugins via the SVN (http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=29911 )

also, you can check out Navi-X (http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=43884) which goes in your scripts and is updated very frequently. i'll admit that the navigation takes a while to get used to, but there's a ton of content with more added all the time. it's also easy to add your own content and make your own plx playlist with instructions on how to do it. i've added a mushi-shi playlist for the english dubbed version and it took me probably 15 minutes to do it and that included copying and pasting the episode information. once you do find playlists that you like on there, you can easily add them to your favorites list to make navigation easier.

another option is the installer-passion script which is also updated often and includes plugins and scripts with a short description of what they include.(http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=42612)

if a plugin is not working anymore, go to the plugin's thread and let the creator know with a helpful post including your xbmc.log and description of what's happening.

lastly, if you don't want to rely on someone to keep a plugin updated, here's a great step by step tutorial to help you understand how to make plugins yourself: http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=HOW-TO_write...s_for_XBMC

good luck.

Never use the Repository.zip from my google page, as the plugins it contains are MISSING extra files. Use the stand alones on the download section of the site.

Anitube is VERY old. It will not function.

Please use the SVN:- http://code.google.com/p/xbmc-addons/

The most up to date plug`s are there.

Check the dates in the title of my plugins on my google code page - it`s often the best indicator as to functionality.

That is what I meant to say Vionage - i've been adding those in the repository to the plugins I have and they are working.
I had to play with different verisons of plugins with different builds - the newest doesn't always work on the xbox.
As for the support, I've found the people on here have been very helpful and have addressed my issues and requests very quickly. you'll find most of the issues you have, have already been addressed. It's just a matter of finding it through all the threads.
Now everything works for me, except the apple movie trailers which I really don't care about. maybe i'll start a post on it later.
