Choppy HD video, was working, using wrong nvidia driver?
#1
Hey guys,
Over the weekend I installed Intrepid (usually keep my media center one version behind) and I'm now getting seriously choppy video when playing back HD files.

I've got an nvidia 7600 GS, and a dual core CPU which previously played all my HD content without any problems. Right now I'm running the nvidia restricted driver ver. 180, unfortunately, I'm not sure what I was running before the upgrade (perhaps nvidia-glx in the repositories?)

One thing I notice is the CPU usage is incredibly low, under 10%, so it seems like it may be trying to do the work elsewhere which is unable to keep up.

Thanks for any help.

Messing with this a bit more, looks like I was wrong about the low CPU part, it's very high so it looks like even VLC on its own is choking. Any ideas would be appreciated, but I think I better take this one over to the Ubuntu forums.

Hmmm, now looking like it may have to do with this issue:
