768p ?!?!

i just took a look at the latest github commits .. can anyone explain what the 768p optimized xbr is for ?? i don't understand the point of the res (1366x768)

i just figured we need a 720p (which scales properly to 1080p) and a 16:10 aspect ratio since that one isn't exactly 720p/1080p

1366x768 is the most common flat panel resolution today... perhaps the optimisation is for this reason.

Although no video is ever made for this resolution, the UI might be?

Myself and I'm sure others use 1360x768, I appreciate that djh is providing the work.
Why exactly are you bothered by this?

p.s. Please avoid pointless punctuation in your thread titles, it's kinda rude.

Some TVs (Samsung) use this resolution. Have no idea why.

i wasn't aware of this, i though basically the tv was either 720p or 1080p and that some of us had 16:10 monitors

i never said i was annoyed by this update to aeon, i just didn't understand it
now i do Smile

it is the normal resolution for the "old" HD READY tv... therefore it was the standard before the real HD 720 and 1080 became the new standard

about 70% of the world's flat panels use this resolution... as mentioned earlier "HD ready" TVs.

The TV monitor manufacturers and the video broadcast standards people do not align... and so when 720p came out, the best match for screens was 1366x768. There are some video hardware / manufacturing reasons for this resolution and so nobody ever really sees 720p content in pixel perfect format.

However, 1920 x 1080 displays ARE pixel perfect for 1080i/p content.

Now, for user interfaces (like AEON), who KNOW about 1366x768, they can provide pixel perfect images for such screens (with one huge caveat that the damn PC driver operates at precisely this resolution also, which hardly any do).

So on my PC, I'm operating at 1280 x 768 from the PC, to a screen that's 1366x768 (so the screen is slightly upscaling (width ways)). You can't tell it's doing this... it looks perfectly fine... but still...

Sometimes, it's best just to not ask a question! haha
