Installing plugins on XBMC for Windows?
#31
OK, I reinstalled, portable method, so I wouldn't have to F around with hidden folders, etc. Now, additionally, for the SVN Repo plugin, there is an "install" txt file. In that it indicates:

2. copy launchers.xml into "UserData\plugin_data\programs\launcher" (you should create this directory manualy)

The problem is, there is no launchers.xml file. In fact, there's no launchers anything file.

Edit: ok, I misread that, but then again, it's not completely clear. What that meant was take all of the <.xml> files and copy them to the directory that you need to create. Jeez.

Ok, so for us non-geek speakers..... I'll tell you what I did. This is from the "portable" install option.

A. I used the revision 20925 XBMC Windows version. Since I was having trouble getting plugins/scripts installed and found manually, I hunted around and found a link to MC360 skin since you need it to install SVN Repo as a favorite and can then access it in the PM skin once you switch back to it. (It's in the middle of this page: http://blackmarket.ictcsc.net/files/skins/)

B. Here are the SVN Repo install instructions found in the install.txt file with this 20925 revision install:

1. copy Launcher directory into "Plugins/programs folder"
2. copy launchers.xml into "UserData\plugin_data\programs\launcher" (you should create this directory manualy)
3. edit launchers.xml and adapt it to your needs.
4. run XBMC and launch the plugin from "Programs" section.
(if programs section isn't available, switch to MC360 skin, go to Games->Applications, mark Launcher as Favorite and switch back to your default skin)

---if you used this revision install, the Launcher directory should already be there (#1). To clarify #2, in the UserData subfolder, you have to create plugin_data subfolder, then program subfolder in that, then launcher folder in that..... 3 levels of subfolder past the UserData subfolder. I found .xml files by doing a search in the Plugins/programs folder by searching: <*.xml> (sure as hell looks like you should search for "launchers.xml" though, doesn't it!). Also, I have no idea how to edit these .xml files, so I'm leaving well enough alone for now.

C. Once you assign the XBMC the MC360 skin, do the above in #4.

D. Once back the Project Mayhem, access favorites and you should be able to find the SVN Repo in the favorites section. From there you can check out addons and scripts and install what you want.

I haven't tested anything yet, but I'll check back and let you know my progress.

There is an installer for XBMC Zone, see the program plugin in my signature. Extract it's contents in %APPDATA%\XBMC\plugins\programs. Then you can run the XBMC Zone Installer pretty much the SVN Repo Installer from XBMC > main menu > Programs > Program plugins. The installer will download and extract the plugins / scripts for you in the right locations. No need to add no sources, just go into the menu entry you need (Video, Pictures, Programs, etc) and then go into Video plugins / Picture plugins / Program plugins or Script menu entry.

Yes, but Dan, the suck thing is that there is no "Programs" option for Windows like on the XBox. So you get stuck going through all the gyrations of my above post.

Yes there is, but it's hidden you need to enable it, see below:
http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=Skin_Settings

Actually the wiki page is missing that part, go into Skin Settings > Home Window > Show programs in main menu (check)

Well....that was well hidden. Doesn't matter.... I can't get a damn thing to play plug-in wise or Navi-X script wise anyway.

It's like you have to get an Associate's Degree in this crap to make it work. Happy for the guys who've had an easier time.

Edit: ok, it just occured to me that I have to do the same stuff with the .xml files for the plugins (and I guess the scripts) and was able to get Ninja Video plugin to initially run. So, that means creating more subfolders and finding and sticking the 2 .xml files in there. Man, isn't there an automatic way?

No idea about what XMLs you changed - as far as I know when a plugin/script doesn't work it is either the addon is not up to date or the XBMC version is too old. Usually these things can be cleared out if you post your xbmc.log at pastebin.com.

I don´t get it, now I´m confused.

Can I or can I not use XBMC Babylon 9.04.1-repack2 released for Windows?

I used XBMC Babylon 9.04.1-repack2 released and changed skin to XBOX360 but I did´t find the favorite button so I can install svn repo installer.

Will I ever manage this setup?

You may have to enable the Programs menu entry from Settings > Skin Settings > Show programs ...

It's in the Home Window tab, it's not shown in the screenshots (the screenshosts are for Xbox, you are running on Windows), it's the first option "Show programs in main menu", just above "Disable RSS during music".

Ok, I have now enabled PROGRAMS.

What now. Should I use XBOX skin or the regular. Because when I use the regular and clicks on programs>program plugins and clicks on SVN repo installer I get the same script error.

I downloaded the SVN_Repo_Installer. Should I put it in a some folder? Should I first use the BUILD file?

Extract the SVN Repo Insataller in %APPDATA%\XBMC\plugins\programs, then run it. See below how to produce a debug log and post it to pastebin.co so we can have a look as well.

Still same problem. But should I have to folder with SVN REPO installer? Because when I extract it to %APPDATA%\XBMC\plugins\programs i have then every thing duplicated. Because there are already one SVN REPO installer in that folder.

Here is the debug

Not sure what you mean, you can't have two folders with the same name, e.g. SVN Repo Installer... maybe a screenshot of your Explorer would clarify things...

You have to run first the SVN Repo Installer so it shows the error in the debug log, and then past the log to pastebin.com...

What I mean is that when I Extract the SVN Repo Insataller in %APPDATA%\XBMC\plugins\programs
there is already one SVN Installer. So I delete the old one and run BUILD.

I want to attach my screenshot, but I need to upload it somewhere, but I don´t know where.

And this debug log is here

Thanks for your time to help me.
