I've been using XBMC on Mythbuntu for a bit now, but I wanted to try XBMC Live and see how well it worked and so far it's pretty damn sweet.
One thing that wasn't in there that I use quite frequently is x11vnc. The reason behind my frequent use is because I only have a projector hooked up to the machine and the bulb of course has a limite life span. The less I can have the projector turned on the better.
I tried to get x11vnc to load up through various methods. I'm used to using GDM to load x11vnc, but that isn't the case with XBMC Live. Ultimately it turned out to be pretty easy. Theortically it can be done with the following command lines:
In short it installs x11vnc, and sets x11vnc to load up using the standard X startup script. The command line to load x11vnc isn't perfect since it's looking or the 14th word in the line and if anyone ever adds or removes the number of words on that line then it'll break it, but it was the first thing I thought of to try and find the magic cookie (nom nom nom). After a reboot x11vnc should be loaded.
If anyone knows of a more reliable method to finding the cookie then please speak up.
