Small problems with the merged smoothvideo features (ATI driver)
#1
Hello,

since I have crashes if I enable the new smoothvideo features under Ubuntu 8.04 caused by the ATI binary driver, I decided to post it here.

I had a problem and a solution before:

Please provide console output as well, it's always going to print something there on a crash.
Hello,

gdb log, together with last lines of console output:

This did the trick!
No more crashes. Thanks.

But this option is not anymore in the settings page. Any chance to get the same behavior back with the current builds?

The setting moved to Videos->Player and was renamed to "Sync playback to display".

But what I don't quite understand is that my videos were smoother with the older smoothvideo branch without "use vblank as clock".

As far as I understand it "Sync playback to display" turns the smooth playback on and off, or is it wrong?

The old syncing seemed to work without the vblank clock.

Try setting "A/V Sync method" to "Video clock (Resample audio)", see if that helps.
