XPR performance improvement on non-Xbox platforms?

Question
Am i correct in assuming that only the xbox will see performance gains from compressing textures into textures.xpr? IE windows, linux, and mac will not?

There probably are still performance benefits, yes, as the compression used is much faster to than that used in jpeg or png. The other bonus is you don't have to care about case sensitivity of the textures.

In short: I recommend using textures.xpr for any texture that you require loading on demand. Anything that's background loaded MUST be outside textures.xpr.

Cheers,
Jonathan
