MythTV 0.22 and HDPVR video playback in XBMC for Linux?
#16
I understand, I know that this is going to be improved in the future but now those are the limitations.

Back when xbmc on linux was starting out I had a full ubuntu install and started mythfrontend and xbmc with a lirc and irexec

something like this is .lircrc and possible an irxec pointing to this lirc in the rc.local file.

begin
prog = irexec
button = Red
config = /usr/bin/XBMC_startup_script
repeat = 0
end

That's how I did it anyways, aren't we steering off topic here though?:p

Just though I'd write a follow up for AuXBoX.

Your questions got me thinking and I changed my setup a bit.

I ditched xbmclive and went with a standard ubuntu install, and got my mythtv stuff through mythtv launched by irexec. xbmc is also launched with irexec. I also made a real simple script that restarts gdm if something weird happens (WAF).

I have to say, with mythtv vdpau and their top hardware accelerated deinterlacer, video quality captured at 1080i and deinterlaced by mythtv is really awesome.

Live tv is buggy, but the recordings play back so well, I thought I'd update the thread.
